Want to attend a bargaining session? Here’s how!
Hello BBIU baristas!
This is a brief update to let you know that our next bargaining dates with the company will be on:
May 14 and 15
June 18 and 19
To stay up to-date on what happens in the bargaining room, please check out our website or follow us on social media @bbiunion.
If you'd like to attend these bargaining sessions, the company agreed to create a way to request unpaid time off in UKG so that you can attend.
Anyone is welcome to attend our bargaining sessions. We firmly believe that as a union, we are only as strong as our least involved member. Attending a bargaining session is a great way to see how the company responds to (or ignores) the needs of their workers.
Below are some visual guides for how to utilize the unpaid time off feature. Currently, members are only supposed to use this feature to request time off to attend collective bargaining sessions. Please also be sure to request to attend the sessions at least 3 weeks in advance. If you request time off to attend a bargaining session, please email us or tell your shop steward so that we can coordinate with you and let you know what to expect.
We'll send out a reminder for how to use this feature closer to the next bargaining session. We hope to see you there. Below are instructions for how to use the UKG feature.
step 1.
Open the UKG app. Select "Request."
step 2.
This should take you to the "Make a request" page. You should select "TimeOff."
step 3.
The time off request page will appear, showing you your accrued time off balances, a calendar, and your schedule for the current day. Above the time off balances should be a dropdown bar labelled "Time off type." Select "choose."
step 4.
You'll be shown a variety of time off options available to you. Including your community day, paid time off, and paid sick leave. If you want to use your community day or PTO to attend bargaining, we believe that you should be able to. For the purposes of this guide though, you should see "Unpaid Time Off" at the bottom of the list. Select this.
step 5.
All that's left is to select the dates! Our next bargaining sessions will be:
May 14
May 15
June 18
June 19
Select any of those dates that work for you. It does not matter how much time you put in for "Hours per day." In the comments section, please be explicit that you are requesting unpaid time off to attend a bargaining session. Feel free to add "Union strong!" or "BBIU4eva" or whatever else tickles your fancy. Then, submit!
step 6.
Please email us at bluebottleunion@gmail.com to let us know that you've requested to attend a bargaining session!!
We hope to see you there :)
